The History of The Maples
Our 55- acre property has been here since the 1860’s and was originally owned by the Peart Family- the husband was a gold miner who struck it rich, and his wife was a San Francisco socialite.
He built a railroad track spur for her so she could travel back to San Francisco often which is still on the property.
Their original 2-story Victorian home was burned down when a cousin came for a visit and was smoking in bed.
Our current house was rebuilt in the 1930’s by the next owners, the Best Family.
Fun fact: they were the developers of the Caterpillar tractor!
Their love for botany influenced the many unique trees on our property.
Fun fact: the 1st ever Yolo County Fair was hosted here!
The property is now owned by The Clark Family, who turned the homestead into our outdoor country estate wedding & event venue, The Maples!
Sincerely,
The Maples Team
